i candy – coney island dreamin’

Happy Friday Everyone! Yesterday my friend Tanya, texted me a picture of a candy apple she just bought while stopping by Coney Island. It looks exactly like the one shown in picture 2 above. First thing I thought of was…is this a terrible prank to play on me or what? I’m starving! Then I began to think how lucky is she? I mean I’ve never been to Coney Island and to be able to just swing into the place to get a candy apple on her way home? How cool would that be?

Sure, I’ve grown up with the Hollywood images of Coney Island and memoirs from others written in books, blogs and of course my favorite Soprano’s episodes, but as an Ohio girl I can only dream about what the place must look, smell and sound like. It must be a total blast to be surrounded by all that nostalgia! The closest thing we had to Coney Island in Cleveland was Cedar Point in my day and Euclid Beach Park in the days of my parents. I sure hope Coney Island is just like I see it in my mind’s eye and not too commercialized these days.

Today’s round-up is dedicated to Coney Island nostalgia, as I live vicariously through these artists:) Is it a nostalgic place for you? Tell me about it…
