Congratulations Vanessa B! YOU WON!
Happy Hump Day! Boy oh boy do we have something extra special for you. It’s officially the start of Fall and that means the start of an extensive baking season. I’ve been pouring over the pages of my Southern Living Magazine and all my favorite food blogs plus family recipes putting together the “perfect” Thanksgiving menu and that could also be translated to mean the perfect dessert:) I’ve also been keeping an eye out for something fun to bake for my neighbors this Christmas and so far I’ve decided on trying my hand at cupcakes-in-a jar, stay tuned for that future post.
The holiday baking season is also special because it brings us together with our moms, grandmothers, daughters and in my case my little guy loves cracking eggs! We’re making memories that we all will cherish forever and hopefully pass on this wonderful tradition and recipes to future generations to enjoy.
As you all know cooking is very near and dear to my heart and when I was creating our new Personalized Recipe Boxes and Recipe Cards I was imagining all the family recipes that customers would be scribing down on each recipe card…like my own great grandmother’s Sour Cream Apple Pie, or your aunt Jean’s famous Pecan Pie or how about your mother’s secret biscuit recipe? Note to self…get mom’s macaroon recipe before I forget again.
No day of baking is complete without two key ingredients….your favorite recipe and your favorite apron. I’m pleased to be pairing up again with my friend, neighbor and soon-to-be mommy Ashley, the baker behind IceMilk heirloom aprons for today’s Hump Day Giveaway. Together we hope to help you and your mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sisters or best friends create beautiful memories from the kitchen. Now we know why the kitchen is called the heart and soul of the home. For even more inspiration you must check out her blog Heirloomed.

I can’t wait for my baking memories with the kids as we’re having our 1st cookie bake party with my 7 & 9 year old and their friends!
I was just visiting InkSpot & I’m in love with the Family Note Cards – they’d be great for making my family recipie cards to go along with our traditional homemade haluski!
SLOVAK HALUSKI KAPUSTOU
1 sm. onion, diced
2-3 tbsp. butter
About half head of cabbage, chopped
Salt & pepper to taste
A few good shakes of paprika
In skillet, brown onion in butter. When browned, add salt, pepper, paprika and cabbage; simmer 5 minutes covered. Add a little water occasionally, as needed, until cabbage is tender.
HALUSKI:
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
Beat egg well; add salt, flour and water, stirring to a stiff batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls (or with knife, scrape bite size pieces off board) into boiling water. When noodles rise to top, cook 5 minutes longer. Add to prepared cabbage; stir well, heat through.
I always make biscotti to give away, and some kind of traditional dessert, like a bûche de Noël or gingerbread cake for Christmas Eve.
Favorite family recipe is probably long grain and wild rice chicken casserole. Though I make a vegetarian version.
Following you both and tweeted: http://twitter.com/#!/saladgoddess/status/131819512264790018
(Changed “heirmooms” to “heirLooms,” though. ;) )
I’d love to see you offer up the morning bun moments apron as I think it would look great over my wedding gown! I love to bake Christmas cookies and do cookie exchanges with friends!
Just last year I started making Nantucket Cranberry Pie! I recommend it to all of you! And I would love to get a Glass Pendant Necklace from InkSpot!

Past for IceMilk visit — growing up my fav memory was of my Grandmother and Gram-Gram (greatgm) baking from scratch in the kitchen when I was a little girl. both have passed now (gram-gram in ’76 at age 92 and my grandmother in ’10 at age 92) Breads, pies, cakes — but the recipe to literally die for was Date and Nut Bread. Seriously family members hid loaves from others to take home..as both have passed now that recipe will never be the same because we all KNOW it was their special love that made it extraordinary. In any case I’d love to see an adult version of the Child’s apron. I adore the pockets and as a crafter this would simply rock!
post for Inkspot — your product offerings are so cute and vibrant and very now. I can’t think of anything in particular that would add right now. As for baking memories, been a long time since went whole hog in that arena but if get excited will do pecan pie and apple pie. I am a cook from scratch kinda gal, so that means pie crusts and applie peals with a touch of rum for peacan and apples — YUM.

I’m going to try and make a Holiday Baking Memory this year by trying to create a new fudge recipe, a different tasting fudge than the traditional chocolate or peanut butter. I’ve got a few ideas in my head, then my family will remember because they’ll be the tasters.
My favorite family recipe is my mom’s stuffing recipe.
What else would I like to see on inkspot, well like your clipboards. Maybe skinny lightweight magnet clipboards to put on refrigerators that hold a list notepad that you can keep adding things you need to buy at the store as you run out of them.

I’m not sure what I’ll be baking this year, but it’ll be my first christmas with my soon-to-be new husband, so that will be memorable in itself!
My family recipe is actually the fantasy fudge recipe from the whipped marshmallow jars… What can I say, we’re not chefs, and it’s pretty fantastic fudge.
I like IceMilk on FB!
I would love to see IceMilk create additional accessories for kitchens… oven mittens, wall art, etc.
I like inkspot on FB! My favorite family recipe is for a family sugar cookie. We make it for all major holidays.
I will allow my 3 year old to help in the kitchen more this year. The smile on her face when she gets to help cook makes the clean up worth it.
My favorite recipe is a spaghetti recipe that has been passed down from my dad’s Nan-nan, to him, and to me. And I will teach my daughter how to make it one day.
Hi, We will be baking Lemon Pudding with Guy’s mum when she arrives from UK next week. My 2 little girls LUV Granny’s recipe & would be great to finally have a cute box to put all these in!
